Obituary

William "Bill" Kelly Norman, 91, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 3:00 p.m. on August 11, 2026. Bill was born on March 28, 1935, in Morgan County, Ohio. He was a proud man who never forgot where he came from and often shared stories of growing up in Morgan County and the experiences that shaped his life. Bill was the devoted husband of the late Shirley Norman, with whom he shared more than 50 years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family and created a lifetime of memories that will continue to live on through the generations. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was proud of his military service and enjoyed telling stories about his time in the Air Force and the experiences he had while serving his country. After his military service, Bill dedicated many years to his career at Gould, where he eventually retired. He was also a proud union representative who believed in standing up for his fellow workers and making sure they were treated fairly. Bill found joy in the simple things in life, but nothing brought him more pride than his family. He especially loved attending and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. He could often be found proudly watching from the sidelines and showing off pictures of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to anyone who would listen. His family was one of his greatest sources of pride, and he never missed an opportunity to talk about them. Bill enjoyed antiquing, yard sales, and woodworking projects. Whether he was searching for a special treasure, working with his hands, or sharing a story from his younger years, Bill had a way of making memories wherever he went. Bill will lovingly be remembered by his children, Randa Lampley, Kelly Norman, Gary Norman, Kimberly (Robert) Caldwell, Beverly (Jeff) Singleton, and Paul (Maria) Mayle. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley, and his daughter Lisa Norman. He is survived by his siblings, David and Denny. He was preceded in death by his siblings Gary, Richard, Wayne, and llene. Bill leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory, including his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him tremendous pride and joy. His stories, his laughter, his love for his family, and the memories he created throughout his 91 years will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rest peacefully, Grandpa Bill. Your stories will be told, your memories will be treasured, and your love will live on through every generation that follows. Funeral Service will be Thurs. Aug. 20, 2026 at 12 Noon at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill; with burial following at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Amesville. Friends may call on the family from 10-12 P.M. on the day of the services. To send a note of condolence to the family, please visit www.matheneyfh.com.
