William Howard "Soggy" Newton, age 86, of Chesterhill, Ohio, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at his residence. He was born October 6, 1932 in Chesterhill, a son of the late George W. and Irma Michener Newton. He was a graduate of Marion High School, and an Army veteran, stationed in France, during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired maintenance worker for Marion Township and also a retired farmer. He liked History and Genealogy and loved to coon hunt with his dogs. He is survived by 2 sisters: Maxine Scott and Ilo Armstrong, both of Chesterhill, and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by 3 brothers: Clarence, Richard, and Dow, also by 3 nephews. Services will be held at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
