MCCONNELSVILLE - William J. Stine , age 86, of McConnelsville, died Monday, March 16, 2009 at 3:47p.m. at Selby Hospital in Marietta. He was born on October 21, 1922 in Zanesville to Clarence Stine and Ethel Stevens Stine. He was a Union Carpenter and Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a verteran of WWII Navy Seabees, and then went to the 1st Marine Division that invaded Okinawa. He was a well known knive maker and worked leather after his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Metcalf Stine of McConnelsville; four sons, William Richard (Shirley) Stine of Reinersville, Thomas Joseph Stine of McConnelsville, Mark Steven (Sis) Stine of Cumberland, and Larry Matthew (Debbie) Stine of McConnelsville; one daughter, JoAnn (Tim) Scholl McConnelsville; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Clara Lang, one half brother, Harry Stine . Services will be at a later date.
