Cynthia Anne (Walker) Engram, age 67, of Grove City, Ohio passed away as the result of numerous diseases at the Doctors West Hospital on August 5, 2023. She was the daughter of Leroy and Margaret (Mayle) Walker in Chesterhill, Ohio. She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Thomas E. Engram of Grove City, Ohio, three sons, Thomas E. Engram II of Grove City, Ohio, Anthony E. Engram of Coshocton, Ohio, and Kristopher B. Engram of Grove City, Ohio.
She was blessed with five grandchildren, Dysonya Stanley, Abbie Engram, Chloe Engram, Vinden (Shortt) Engram, and Obere (Shortt) Engram. She also has two special grandchildren Tanesha Davis and Maaliq Elliot.
She also leaves behind three sisters, Lori Norman of Chesterhill, Terri Flowers, Stewart, Ohio, and Marcia (Harry) Campbell of Chesterhill, and a brother Leroy (Suzette) Walker of Zanesville, Ohio. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and associates.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dayton and Pauline (Smith) Mayle and Everette and Garrett Walker, two brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Norman and Lonnie Flowers.
Cynthia was a child of god and was baptized at Good Hope Baptist Church, Blackridge, Virginia and is a member of First Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio
Cynthia was raised in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Marion Franklin High School in 1974, attending the Columbus State Community College in 1977, the Northern Kentucky University receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree (Cum Laude) and continued her graduate degree at the University of Toledo. Cynthia also graduated from the Cosmetology and Hair Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Cynthia began her career while in high school, on the recreation advisory board at Marion Franklin Recreation Associate and secretary for MF Civic Association. She was selected as the “Top Teen” in the Columbus, Ohio Teen City Council. Also in high school, she began a co-op job with Republic Franklin Insurance Company and after high school as a coding clerk becoming an accounting clerk and then a full charged book keeper.
Cynthia worked as an Accountant with Krienik & Associates and left that position to become Office Manager for the Pacific Mutual Life. In 1985 she moved on to become the Assistant Treasurer and General Accounting with Keystone General in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved on to become the Assistant Risk Manage at Rudolph/Libbe Inc. In 1989 she became and Investigator with the National Labor Relation Board in Pittsburgh, PA, until 1999 when she came back to Columbus, Ohio to work with the U.S. Veteran Administration in Chillicothe, Ohio. The numerous educational and professional relocations was to follow and support her husband who is a retired Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Cynthia was an avid book reader, loved arts and crafts, and immersed herself in the genealogy of her family.
Visitation will be Friday, August 11, 2023, 5 P.M.-7 P.M. at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home, 7465 Marion Street, Chesterhill, Ohio. Visitation will be extended to Saturday, August, 12, 2023 from 11 A.M. - 12 Noon with funeral services to follow at Mt. Hermom Church, 21852 State Route 550, Amesville, Ohio. Cynthia will be interred at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a dinner at the Chesterhill Church of Christ, 7675 South Street # 377 Chesterhill, Ohio.
