Dennis J Fortney

The wonderful and loving Dennis J. Fortney passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2021 at the Riverside Hospital in Columbus.  He was born to Dennis and Julia Weldon Fortney on May 27, 1949 in Beatrice, W. Va.  Dennis lived a fulfilling life driving Sei-Trucks, riding motorcycles and collecting antique tractors, along with hit and miss engines.  He enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family most.  Dennis was a steadfast husband, a devote father and a loving uncle, grandparent and great grand pappy.  He was also an active member of the 7TH Street Church of Christ.  Dennis looks forward to joining his parents, his outstanding son Jeff, siblings, Norman, Floyd, Charles, Ron, Reta West and Betsey Mercer in death.  Left to carry on Dennis’s memory is his adoring wife of 28 years Julie Dunn Fortney, daughter, Renee (Jim) Bole, granddaughter, Shelby (Jason) Lyons, grandson, Trevor (Sarah) Bole, great grandchildren, Sophia Hope Westfall and Bronson Lee Bole, sisters, Jane Fitzpatrick, Brenda (Dale) Caley, Cindy Smith and Darla (Walt) Harding, sisters in law, Lynn Fortney and Kathy Fortney, brother in law, Daniel Dunn and many nieces and nephews.  Memorial services will be held at a late date in both Pennsville and Coshocton.  Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville is handling the arrangements.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
