Don Edward Lochary, 83. Born Feb. 9, 1940 in Bartlett, Ohio to Vivian (Gage) and Leo Lochary. Don was a 1958 graduate of Bartlett High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, Don served in the Signal Corps, including in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. Don enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and playing and coaching basketball and baseball. He was a huge sports fan. He frequently attended his grandchildren’s sporting and school events. In the late 1960’s with the generosity and hard work of the Shawd family and many other members of the community, Don saw the completion of his vision with the creation of Shawd Field in Bartlett. Don lived in the south for 16 years and retired from Winn Dixie before returning to Washington County. He was a member of the Bartlett United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post #0389 in Beverly and joined with friends in researching and documenting the history of Bartlett. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and Darrell Roberts and Leo and Elsa Lochary, a son, Craig Lochary, a brother, Dana Lochary and 2 sisters, Dolores Grandon and Patricia Boylboll. He is survived by his son Jason Lochary and grandchildren Jaron, Elliana, Garrett, Meryl and Sydney, sisters, Rebecca Roddy and Connie Salisbury and a brother, Rex (Elaine) Roberts, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends who were like family and devoted friend Darlene Chesser. A memorial service will be held on Sat, April 22, 2023 from 3-5 P.M. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with a veteran’s service following at the Bartlett Cemetery.
