Donald James Muse, was born on Dec. 4, 1930 in Windsor Township at what use to be called the Boy Scout Farm on St. Rt. 266. The son of the late Dale and Marjorie Dawson Muse. He passed to his eternal home on Sat. May 22, 2021. He graduated from Windsor High School in Stockport in 1948 and received the nick name of Mousy from his coach Heck Harkins. He attended 1 year at the Ohio State University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1950. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa for 28 months and 1 year at the Naval Air Station in Atlantic City. During that time he married Martha Blake and after being discharged he worked at the AEP Muskingum River Plant in Beverly for 37 years. He was a great sports fan of Ohio State, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. He also coached baseball and basketball in Stockport and Pennsville. He was a member of Smith’s Chapel United Methodist Church and served as treasurer. He joined Webb Lodge #252 F & AM in Stockport in 1954, serving as the worshipful Master and lodge Secretary for over 65 years. He served as the 17th District Education officer, District Deputy Grand Master, was a member of the Scottish Rite of Cambridge, York Rite Bodies of Beverly and Marietta, also a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Mt. Moriah Chapter # 506 in Beverly and served 27 years as Worthy Patron and a member of the American legion Post # 389 in Beverly. During his time he served the Village of Stockport as Clerk/Treasurer or Council member for 38 years and served under 10 different Mayors. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Martha Blake Muse and a brother Jerry Muse. He is survived by a son, D.J. (Kathy) Muse of VanWert, 2 daughters, Luann (Neal) Mckown of Hackney and Marla (Marshall) Reed of Stockport, 2 brothers, Richard (Marlene) Muse of Bismarck, ND and Gary (Karen) Muse of Zanesville, 6 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 14 step-great grandchildren. Services will be held on Weds, May 26, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial following in the Stockport Cemetery. Friends may call on the family on Tues, May 25 from 3-6 P.M. and 1 hour prior to the services on the day of the funeral. A Masonic Service will be held on Tues. at 6:00 P.M. following the visitation.
