Obituary

Emerson L. Sloat, 91 of Cookeville, Tn, formerly of Chesterhill, passed away on Sat. Sept. 9, 2023 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center.  He was born on March 18, 1932 in Plain City, Ohio.  He was a member of the Chesterhill Church of Christ and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he received 3 Purple Hearts.  He is survived by 2 sons, Rick (Stacey) Sloat of Union City Missouri and Glenn (Robbin) Sloat of Cookeville, Tn, 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his father, William Sloat, 1st wife, Ruby Sloat, 2nd wife, Peg Sloat, a son, Steve Sloat, a brother and 3 sisters.  A visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. on Wed, Sept. 20, 2023 at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with a graveside service following in the Chesterhill Cemetery.
