McConnelsville - Jean E. (Brown) Jahn, 93, of McConnelsville, formerly of Sunbury, passed away on December 9, 2021. She was born to John and Lulu Brown in Duncan Falls, on November 10, 1928. Her schooling began in a one-room schoolhouse, Quail Trap, followed by grade schools at Chandlersville, Meigs and Duncan Falls, with graduation from Chandlersville High School in May 1945. She attended the Ohio State University, Franklin University and Columbus Business University. Jean loved reading, driving, classic country music, beaches and being a Democrat. Her favorite memories were the special times of her life when her children were young and her grandchildren were young. She had several jobs. Her first was in the Stores and Receiving Department at the Ohio State University, where, as a teenager, she was the youngest employee in the office. Her last was 17 years at the Presbyterian Synod of the Covenant, where, at the time of her retirement, she was the oldest employee in that office. Preceding her in death were her parents, her grandparents, Milton and Adda Harlan, and her son, Michael, who died in 1995. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Williamson of Delaware and Valerie Evers of Sunbury, her son, Thomas of Simi Valley, California, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, her sister, Joanne Bennett of Belpre, one niece and three nephews. According to Jean's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation by Matheney Funeral Home, McConnelsville, has taken place with the ashes to be scattered near her birthplace at a time designated by the family. "Life does not end when we die. Death is a rebirth into a spirit world of light and love, a transition from the physical to the spiritual that is no more frightening or painful than passing between rooms through an open doorway. It is a joyful homecoming to our natural home." -Betty Eadie
