Joseph B. Peyton, 78 of Malta passed away August 4, 2020 at his beloved pond and garden. He was born February 1, 1942 a twin son of Hansford V. and Melda Stafford Peyton in Sunbeam (Logan County) West Virginia. He proudly served as a Corporal in the Marine Corp following his graduation from Malta McConnelsville High School. He worked at the Ohio Ferro Alloy for 21 years and was a Member of the Steelworkers Union and 14 years at Malta Manufacturing where he was a member of the Mold’s workers union. During those years he attended Ohio University and at age 59 earned a Bachelors in Specialized Studies (BSS) with a concentration in Political Science. Elected as a Malta Township Trustee from 1987—1995. Joe served as Morgan County Farm Bureau President 2014-2016. He belonged to the Disabled Veterans Association and American Legion. As a founding member of the Malta Bible Church, He served his Lord and Savior with his gift of playing rhythm guitar and singing in the Malta Bible Church music ministry. He was proceeded in death by his parents, and seven siblings and an infant son Joseph Wayne Peyton
He is survived by his wife Sharon Reed Peyton, Son, Timothy (Grace) Peyton , grandchildren, (Alexa, Zechariah) (Autumn Blair (Ian) and 2 great grandchildren, Adalie and Ainsley, Marietta, OH, and Audrey Osborn and 2 great grandchildren, Elijah and Landon, Circleville, OH, Sarah Peyton Kilbarger (Chris) of Malta, grandchildren (Kayla VanNess, and Ashton Kilbarger , residing in Charlotte, NC.) One brother, Boyce Peyton, McConnelsville. Joe leaves a host of sister-in – laws and brother in laws along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved his stories, (Deer Hunting 101 and Fishing). Services will be held on Sat. Aug, 8, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Malta Bible Church with military services following. Friends may call on the family from 11-1 on the day of the services.
