Julia M Carrel

Julia M. Carrel, 88, of Zanesville, passed away on Weds, April 28, 2021 at the Primrose Retirement Community in Zanesville.  She was born on March 2, 1933 in Malta, Ohio to the late Lawrence “Dutch” and Lela Glidden Carpenter.  She worked as an administrative assistant for Gould Inc. in McConnelsville for over 46 years.  She was the first female employed by Cleveland Graphite, working on a slab of concrete while the office was built around her.  She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Zanesville and also attended the Malta United Methodist Church. Julia was about family, children, giving and kindness. She was always crocheting, knitting, or cooking something to give to others.  Her many acts of kindness were often done quietly or in secret.  In her honor, we ask for your prayers, thoughts and good wishes to be expressed not in words to our family but through engaging in a simple and quite act of kindness.  She is survived by her 2 sons, Steven (Lynn) Carrel of Zanesville and Bradley Carrel of Zanesville, a daughter, Marci Carrel of Mumbait, India, 3 sisters, Mary Poston of Naples Fl, Martha Bering of West Minister, Co and Nancy Kinney of Olean Ny, 5 granddaughters and 2 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayland Carrel and a sister, Rachel Sue Carpenter.  A memorial visitation will be held on Tues, May 4, 2021 from 5-6 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville.  The family would like to thank Primrose Retirement Community and Hospice of Central Ohio for the wonderful care provided to our mom.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or to the M&M Vol. Fire Dept.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
