CHESTERHILL - Lola E. "Mitty" Carnes, 60, of Canton, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. She was born Aug. 17, 1948, in Chesterhill, to the late Leonard W. Carnes and Iva L. Dalton Carnes. She was a member of the Bethel Wesleyan Church near Bartlett, attended the Starlight School in Zanesville, and loved Elvis. She is survived by one brother, Leonard "Jock" Carnes of Malta; three sisters, Rachel Watiker of Columbus, Mary (Edward) Smith of Canton and Melanie (Charles) Preston of Marietta; one special nephew-brother, Courtney "Corky" Carnes of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Carnes; one sister, Vicki Clifford; and one niece, Allison "Alli" Watiker. Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Bethel Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Terry Newman officiating. Burial will be in Chesterhill Cemetery.
