Raymond McCoy Obituary

Raymond Lee McCoy, 88, of McConnelsville, Ohio, died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio. He was born on April 9, 1932 in West Portsmouth, Ohio , the son of the late Dira Lee and Elizabeth Harris McCoy. He was a Sheet Metal Mechanic at the former Atomic Energy Plant in Piketon, Ohio.

He was an Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in McConnelsville, served as Elder and Sunday School  Teacher at Ohio Avenue Christian Church in New Boston, Ohio, was an active youth and Sunday School Leader at Bigelow Church in Portsmouth, Ohio, a 60 plus year member of the Lucasville Masonic Lodge, a 25 plus year member of American Legion Post 0023, a member and officer of United Commercial Travelers of America, member and Treasurer of atomic Employees Credit Union for many years, and a member of the National Knife Collectors Association.

Raymond was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was a kind care giver and took excellent care of his family. He is survived by 2 daughters: Marilyn Zumbro and husband Kevin of Malta, and Mary Lou Rochotte and husband Jack of McConnelsville, 4 grandchildren: Sarah Zumbro, Patrick (Courtney) Zumbro, Amanda (Caleb) Baumgardner, and Stephen Rochotte; 2 great grandchildren: Isaac Richardson and Everlee Baumgardner, and one on the way. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Jackie and second wife Sharon, and 3 sisters.

A private family service was held Sunday with Evang. Vernon Eldridge officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
