McCONNELSVILLE - Richard L. Adkins, 84, of Stockport, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, in his home. He was born Sept. 10, 1924, in East Liverpool, a son of the late John L. and Margret Parr Adkins. Mr. Adkins was a lifetime farmer and retired from Taylor Woodcraft in Malta. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Pennsville United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Junaita B. Willard Adkins, whom he married Nov. 29, 1945; one son, Fredric L. Adkins of Stockport; two grandchildren, Aimee N. Adkins of The Plains, Ohio, and Clint L. (Ashlee) Adkins of Cincinnati; and one sister, Phyllis Cunningham of Stockport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an older sister, Mrs. Betty Conklin; and a younger brother, Gale Adkins. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at the funeral home with Pastor Dwyane Stuttler presiding. Burial will be in the Stockport Cemetery.
