Richard Endsley Obituary

Richard (Dick) Arlen Endsley, 81, died unexpectedly on February 2, 2021.  He was born March 19, 1939 at home in Coshocton, Ohio.  The son of Ronald and Thelma (Bucklew) Endsley.  He married Linda (Jones) (Endsley) Houchard and they settled in Canal Winchester, Ohio.  Dick was a Field Service Engineer for Columbus Equipment Company for 27 years.  A member of the Operating Engineers Union and served as Union Representative.  His father was a construction worker and eventually supervisor.  They moved around so much that he had attended 96 different schools.  The last one being Upper Arlington High School.  As a young man he always looked “sharp” and wore his hair in “ducktails.”  While in high school he worked at the Drive-in theater repairing the speakers that were on poles, he also worked for a well-known Columbus advertiser by recovering his famous huge kites.  His mode of transportation was a motor scooter (Cushman) until 1957 when he bought a brand new ’57 Chevy, light green and white.  He loved being outdoors, gardening, deer hunting or riding his quad and he was always the first to spot the Morels in the Spring.  He was always happy to use his mechanical skills to help build or repair whatever the neighborhood or friends or family needed.  He loved children and his own were his pride and joy.   He was a faithful loving husband and father.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother, William Dennis (Denny) Endsley and Son-in-law Allen Ball.

Surviving is his ex-wife, Linda (Jones) (Endsley) Houchard and their family of 5 children, Misty (Endsley) Ball, grandchildren Jessica Corrad (Brent) grandson Jones, Jennifer (Chris [Caleb, Anna, Lucy]) Smith, Julia (Peter [Elijah]) Matteson; Jay Endsley (Carol) grandchildren Brianne and Colin; Julie (Endsley) Johnston, grandchildren Jeremy (Tora [Henry, Oliver]), Josh (Amy [Wesley, Sadie, Darren]), DeAnne (Nathan [Aubri, Dominick, Camden]); Brody Endsley (Melissa), grandaughter Savanna (Rowdy [Cali]); Hugh Endsley (Joelle), grandsons Simon, Alex and Patrick.  And many more nieces, nephews and extended family.  A service remembrance service will be at a later date.  Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville is handling the arrangements.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
