Rita A. Parmiter

Rita A. Parmiter, 82, of McConnelsville, passed away on Tues, Feb. 16, 2021 at the Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville.  She was born Oct. 24, 1938 in Bristol Twp. To Ina Ray Hancher and Willie Dean Hancher.  She graduated from Bristol Elementary and Malta-McConnelsville High School.  She worked many years for Dr. A. A. Coulson in McConnelsville and for the Morgan County Welfare Dept.  She held several offices and was in the choir at Trinity United Methodist Church.  Rita had a wonderful voice.  She was a member and officer in the Morgan Hills Garden Club.  After her marriage to Calvin V. Parmiter in 1968 Rita started the job of being a stay-at-home mom.  Calvin has been quoted as saying “It is wonderful to come home from work tired and hungry and see the house clean, kids clean, and smell supper nearly ready to eat-PRICELESS!”  Rita was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, a sister, Ruth Smith and a brother, Donald Hancher.  Surviving is her husband, Calvin, children, Michele (Chris) Costello, Alvin Barry Parmiter, Erin (Stacy) Huffman, grandchildren, Lukas Nesselroad, Dylan Nesselroad, Calvin A. Parmiter and Benton J. Parmiter and a sister, Reva Mummy.  Private funeral services will be held at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Rita’s name.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
